The Martingale System

The Martingale betting system is undoubtedly the most popular online roulette betting strategy. It was invented in the 18th century by a British casino owner called John Henry Martindale, hence the name Martingale system.

Having said that, the Martingale system is a positive progression system where gamers increase their bet size after every loss. This continues until you register a win and recoup the lost money and a small profit. Then, you revert to the initial bet amount. 

Although it sounds good on paper, the Martingale system can easily send you to the cleaners if luck isn’t on your side. Also, this betting strategy needs a big bankroll to withstand extended losing sprees.

For this reason, only use this online roulette betting system on even-money outside bets. Even money bets pay at a ratio of 1:1, meaning you have around a 50% chance of winning. So overall, the Martingale system is somewhat a risky one.

The D’Alembert System

Don’t like the idea of increasing your bet limit each time you lose? No problem, the D’Alembert system will sort you out. It’s the reverse of the Martingales system, meaning you decrease your bets after winning one. 

The D’Alembert betting strategy is perfect for even-money outside bets, just like the Martingale system. This is based on the idea that you can win almost half of the time. In other words, you win the same number of even money wagers as you lose. 

Here are the basic rules in this betting system; choose a bet amount, preferably less than 5% of the total bankroll. Next, select your bet type, whether odd/even, red/black or 19-36/1-18. Then, subtract a unit from your bet amount each time you win and add a unit each time a bet is lost. 

As you can see, D’Alembert is relatively simple to understand and doesn’t eat through your bankroll faster than the Martingale system. But always remember that the house edge is always lurking in the background to stop your happy sessions.

The Fibonacci System

Lastly, consider the Fibonacci system, a negative progression system. Here, you increase your stake after a lost wager. Like the others, this system is perfect for even-money bets. Online craps players can also use the Fibonacci system on bets like pass and don’t pass. 

The Fibonacci system is based on the typical Fibonacci sequence, which goes like 1 – 1 – 2 – 3 – 5 – 8 – 13 – 21 – 34 – 55 – 89 – 144 – 233 – 377 – 610 – 987.

So, how does this system work? Before using this roulette betting system, decide what you’ll stake per unit. As said before, less than 5% of your bankroll is good enough, although the optimal limit is 2%.

This betting system might look closely related to the Martingale system. However, if you lose the same number of bets in the Martingale system, your small bankroll will almost be no more.
